Eva Bubla (HU)
Eva Bubla is a Hungarian artist, activist, researcher, and independent curator. Her work has been centered around current ecological and social concerns. At the boundaries of art and science, her projects aim to map, perceive, interpret, and as such (re)connect audiences to the local ecosystem. She is keen on working together with local communities and other sectors; these forms of interactions greatly define the format and medium she works with. Her solo and collaborative projects have addressed issues such as the role of urban green areas, the challenges of farming, air, water or plastic pollution, the ecological needs and risks of freshwaters, and connected human activities by offering relevant social discourse, new perspectives or future imaginations.
In recent years, her artistic interest turned towards the microbial world as she got involved in the work of the Microbial Childhood Collaboratory (MCC), focusing on the interrelation and co-dependence of human and more-than human bodies and wellbeing.
Bubla’s projects have been presented in Europe and Asia and she has taken part in several residency programs (in the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Taiwan).
The residency program is supported using public funding by the Slovak Art Council. The Slovak Art Council is the main partner of this project. The project is also supported by Mesto Košice and Creative Industry Košice.
The residency of Eva Bubla is organized thanks to the partnership with Budapest Gallery.
