Tomoko Hojo is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher working within the field of experimental music and sound art who’s on a residency stay here in Košice within programme K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence. During her experimental music workshop, we are going to explore various possibilities between (musical/non-musical) instruments and sounds, body and space, through listening, performing and improvising exercises. Based on the historical experimental music scores such as Pauline Oliveros, Christian Wolf, John Sevens Michael Persons and so on, this opportunity encourages you to think, to analyse their sounds and to give hints to work with sound, rather than teaching specific methodologies. Bring your instrument along with an open mind, no musical experience is required. Instruments can be everything including daily objects as well as musical instruments.
Works for exercises (TBD)
John Stevens / Color
Christian Wolf / Stones
Pauline Oliveros / For Phil Wilson
Alvin Lucier / (Košice) Memory Space
Michael Persons / Walk
Milan Adamčiak
Free entry
The residency program is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. The stay is also supported by Košice city and Creative Industry Košice. The residency is organized in cooperation with Youkobo Art Space.
