Dominika Badžová and František Balog participated In the steps of Kalo Dant residency project in August and September. Before that we prepared an open call with the aim of connecting residential artists with local Roma communities, providing space for mutual inspiration, sharing knowledge, development of trust, creativity and imagination. Dominika and František won us over with a series of creative and motivational workshops focused on young people, which they prepared in an effort to help them find a way to self-realization, develop their integrity and provide them with new opportunities.

The result of a creative process with a group of young people from Luník IX and the Dorka orphanage is a theatrical performance Magic Classroom. During the discussion with Dominika and František, we are going to talk about the process of creating the performance, what they focused on during the workshops and what challenges they had to overcome. We will also talk about our idea of the preparation of community projects and what we should be careful about when preparing them in the future in order to achieve the desired benefits.

The residency project originated from the initiative of KAIR Košice Artist in Residence, tranzit.sk and Oto Hudec, and is carried out in cooperation with ETP Slovakia. The project is supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council. The project is also supported by the organization K13 – Košice Cultural Centers.
