Iryna Loskot: Transplant / workshop

Events, Past
Šopa Gallery, Hlavná 40, Košice 12.09.2024 17.00

We invite you to a creative workshop led by our current artist-in-residence, Ukrainian artist, Iryna Loskot.

About the workshop:

Due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, many Ukrainians are still

forced to migrate to Europe. They often face hostile attitudes and difficulties in integration.

During the workshop, we will exchange experiences of plant growing between Ukrainian migrants and locals, as well as plant indoor plants of different origins. By exploring the history of plants as migrants, we will try to question xenophobic attitudes and create a space for mutual care – between people and between people and non-humans. Each participant will take away a plant from the workshop.

Duration: 1 hour/17:00-18:00

Date: 12th of September

Place: Šopa Gallery

There are no age restrictions.

The workshop will be in Ukrainian language.

You can apply here: monika.padejova@kair.sk

We look forward to seeing you!

IRYNA LOSKOT (UA) in her practice explores the exploitation of the environment and resistance to this exploitation. In her works, Iryna creates a common space of memory for humans and non-humans. Her approach involves evoking empathy for non-humans by revealing their presence in the individual memory of a person.

The residency program is supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council. The Slovak Arts Council is the main partner of this project.
