Natalia Revko – The City and the City
We cordially invite you to the lecture The City and the City with Natalia Revko, who will introduce you to modern and contemporary art in Odesa, Ukraine.
Natalia Revko is working with archives of modern and contemporary arts in Odesa (Ukraine). For years, she has been developing her own extended archive that includes oral histories, digital copies from private artists and curators collections. She focuses on underground art communities of the 1970-80s as well as emerging of the first contemporary art institutions and curatorial approaches of the 1990s. In theoretical practice, she is interested in connections between city topography, folk architecture, collective memory and environmental issues.

Natalia Revko is an independent curator and contemporary art researcher. She is the head of the NGO “Slushni Rechi”. Within the NGO Natalia organized a range of educational projects and exhibitions, including a sound laboratory in the Odesa Botanical garden and research of private experiences and memories of people living in the 1990s. Recent projects include curation of the exhibition “I can only talk about war / I can not only talk about war” at the Center for Contemporary Art Laznia (Gdansk, Poland), and collaboration with Kandis Friesen in the project “Her right year is shorter than the left” at Galerie im Turm (Berlin, Germany).

The residency is organized in collaboration with Meet Factory in the Czech Republic, hablarenarte: in Spain and Visual Culture Research Center, in Ukraine.
