Radovan Čerevka (SK)
Radovan Čerevka is a one of the most interesting young Slovak artists. Radovan studied in Košice, Bratislava and Prague and currently he is an assistant lecturer in Prof. Juraj Bartusz’s Studio of Free Creativeness 3D at Faculty of Art, Technical University, Košice. He uses mainly sculpture, video, installation and drawing to examine the relationship between media reports of terrible events, like those from one of the oldest news agency Reuters, and the consumers of this information living in the relatively peaceful zone of Europe.
Radovan lived and worked from mid June until mid September in Lepzig in Halle14, which is our partner in Germany. He created a project called Optical Stories from Distant Lands.
“The title of the residential project is related to the characteristic feature of all the works presented. This is the selected story or topic related to the remote depressed area (Afghanistan, Palestine, Syria ..) and images taken from the media (Infograph, text, photos and videos from YouTube) which are then included in the new optical – entertaining presentation. This is not a comprehensive exhibition project but rather a collection of thematically linked autonomous works using similar strategies.”
