Petra Římalová (CZ)

Petra Římalová (1982) is a Czech artist who studied at the New Media Department (headed by Veronika Bromová) at Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2005-2011).

For some time already Petra has been interested in 3D modulation in connection with animation and video. The main topic of her work is a space – namely places bearing a story and traces of people who stayed there. She often explores the phenomenon of time and subsequently events which are changing the specific environment. Her storytelling is rather indirect due to the connection of video art and film which interests her. Last year Petra was at residency in Český Krumlov at Egon Schiele Art Centrum..

In Košice she worked on site specific installation dealing with history and genius loci of Kasarne/Kulturpark. She tried to capture the historical dimension of the place through conversations with witnesses of the time the “Kasárne” was a real military barracks and through researching various documents.

Petra’s work is not a documentary or videos capturing reality, it is more a personal statement expressing to a great extent the artist’s subjective perception of the place and its atmosphere. Petra Římalová (1982) je česká umelkyňa, ktorá študovala na fakulte Nových médií (pod vedením Veroniky Bromovej) na Akadémii výtvarných umení v Prahe ( v rokoch 2005 až 2011).

Istý čas sa Petra zaoberala 3D moduláciami v spojitosti s animáciou a videom. Hlavnou témou jej práce je priestor – a to najmä miest, ktoré obsahujú v sebe príbeh a úlomky ľudí, ktorí v nich prebývali. Častokrát taktiež skúma fenomén času a udalostí, ktoré menili určité prostredie. Jej príbehovosť je skôr nepriama, a to práve vďaka spojeniu video umenia a filmu, ktoré sú stredobodom jej záujmu. Minulý rok sa Petra zúčasnila rezidencie v Českom Krumlove v Egon Schiele Art Centrum.

Počas svojho pobytu na rezidencii v Košiciach Petra pracovala na inštalácii, ktorá sa zaoberala históriou a umiestnením komplexu Kasarní/Kulturpark. Snažila sa zachytiť históriu miesta prostredníctvom skúmania archívnych dokumentov a rozhovorov so svedkami z čias, kedy boli Kasárne ešte vojenskou ubytovňou.

Petrina práca však nie je dokumentárny alebo video záznam zachytávajúci realitu, ide skôr osobný postoj vyjadrujúci do veľkej miery umelcom subjektívne vnímanie miesta a atmosféry. Aj keď sa obrazy môžu zdať pomerne realistické, v skutočnosti obsahujú značné množstvo predstavivosti a pozmeňovania reality. Viac informácií a fotky môžete nájsť tu.
