Ultraviolet Movement by Vlasta Žáková (SK)
Ultraviolet Movement is an exhibition of soft sculptures under UV light in the darkened room. The dominant sculpture depicts two creative lines Žáková uses in her works – the party and the magical world. It shows a mass of people, a crowd, being transformed into a single individual. This person is stuck between these two worlds, depicted in a psychedelic dance move.
Moreover, the exhibition is supported by other artworks which reflect the precious memories and people from Vlasta’s residency. The whole exhibition means a big step forward for her creative program, as most of her previous sculptures had been static. The movement with the sculpture was performed and recorded at the Opening and has been showed to the visitors during the whole lasting of the exhibition.
Vlasta Žáková took part on the residency in London at Red Gallery during summer 2013.
