Ziggurat Project (HU)

Ziggurat Project was created in 2013 by three young Hungarian dance artists Flóra Eszter Sarlós, Emese Kovács and Gergő Lukács. The company is based in Budapest and works with other permanent members and invited guest artists from different fields of art: dance, theatre, visual arts, music and literature.

„We create interdisciplinary site-specific performances giving priority to cultural and common places as a platform for dance more than a theatrical space. Our aim is to make relational art with no hierarchical construction in the process, creating a stimulating discourse between art forms, as well as to meet spectators with less expectation and create interaction between the audience and the artists.“

During the residency, the dancers from Ziggurat project will cooperate with Matej Ivan, new media artist based in Košice. They will create performance called FLOATING.

A hybrid dance installation reflecting on the relation between movement, technology and audience. How does the spectator become active in the interaction of dance and media? How do we share the physical and virtual space with the audience by creating a common universe? Is technology able to deepen perception in relation of dance and digital arts? FLOATING is a choreographic piece in which the spectators are also part of the constantly changing visual installation of the moving dancers. They are part of the space that reacts and the dancers react on and also part of the interval during which they broaden the borders of our everyday perception and question the perceived reality. The title refers to Flotation-REST (restricted environmental stimulation technique), as the aim is to put the participants in a space deprived of the endless input of sensory experiences coming from the outside world and immerse them into a common physical experience.

V roku 2013 založili tanečníčky Flóra Eszter Sarlós, Emese Kovács a tanečník Gergő Lukács skupinu s názvom Ziggurat Project. Skupina sídli v Budapešti, pracuje s ďalšími stálymi členmi a pozýva hosťujúcich umelcov z rôznych oblastí: tanec, divadlo, výtvarné umenie, hudba a literatúra.

„Vytvárame interdisciplinárne site-specific performance, pričom ako priestor pre tanec sú pre nás dôležitejšie kultúrne a bežné miesta, než divadelný priestor. Našim cieľom je robiť relačné umenie bez hierarchickej konštrukcie v procese, vytvárať a podnecovať dialóg medzi umeleckými formami, rovnako ako stretávať divákov, ktorí majú menej očakávaní a vytvárať interakcie medzi publikom a umelcami“.

Počas rezidenčného pobytu budú tanečníci a tanečníčky skupiny Ziggurat Project spolupracovať s košickým novomediálnym umelcom Matejom Ivanom. Spolu vytvoria performance s názvom FLOATING

Hybridná tanečná inštalácia reflektujúca vzťah medzi pohybom, technológiou a publikom. Ako sa divák stane aktívny v interakcii tanca a média? Akým spôsobom zdieľame s publikom fyzický a virtuálny priestor vytváraním spoločného sveta? Je technológia schopná prehĺbiť vnímanie vzťahu tanca a digitálneho umenia? FLOATING je choreografickým dielom, v ktorom sú diváci súčasťou neustále sa meniacej inštalácie pohybujúcich sa tanečníkov. Sú časťou priestoru, ktorá reaguje a tanečníci reagujú na ňu a taktiež súčasťou intervalu počas ktorého rozširujú hranice nášho každodenného vnímania a skúmajú vnímanú realitu. Názov odkazuje na relaxačnú techniku Flotation-REST, keďže cieľom je umiestniť účastníkov do priestoru zbaveného nekonečného prísunu zmyslových dojmov prichádzajúcich z vonkajšieho sveta a ponoriť ich do spoločnej fyzickej skúsenosti.
