Open Call Tbilisi

GeoAIR residency, in collaboration with K.A.I.R. – Košice Artist in Residence invites artists from Slovakia to apply for two months residency at GeoAIR. Selected artist will work in Tbilisi on aproject reflecting on interconnected themes concerning urban transformation, public space and social engagement of art

GeoAIR residency:

Since 2010 GeoAIR runs a residency program. This is a self directed residency program, that offers curators, artists, culture producers and researchers the opportunity to base themselves in Tbilisi, Georgia and use this location as a starting point to build networks, meet artists, cultural institutions and curators from the Caucasus region, and develop and deepen their knowledge and research of the Caucasus context. In return local artists, curators and organizations will have the opportunity to extend their knowledge about the innovative ways that many international professionals are working.

A fundamental part of all GeoAIR programs is the interaction with the public. As a minimum each resident is required to give a public presentation about their work and the project that they are developing during the residency. GeoAIR encourages residents to incorporate additional workshops during the residency in order to form closer relationships with the community and the local artists. Through these activities participants share their experiences, processes and ideas with local artists, audiences and different communities. Also most of our curatorial projects have interdisciplinary character, we work very closely with architects, urbanists, anthropologists, etc., we give priority to socially engaged projects, which also intend close collaboration and involvement of communities.

GeoAIR staff works very closely with every resident, introduce them to the city and the local context, as well as the art scene and ongoing activities in Georgia. Given the fact that the residency space is connected to our office, each resident becomes closely connected with our team. We guide them through our archive, which in many cases has been very important starting point in developing projects. Our team assists residents on every stage of project, helping with translations, logistics and meetings regarding the residency project, as well as planning and communicating events that we are implementing with our residents.

–          Collaborative Cultural Projects

–          Archidrome – Contemporary Art Archive and Discussions
